The Kelowna Riding Club offers safe harbour for evacuated horses and their owners, in the event of wildfires or other natural disasters. Our beautiful facility, at 3745 Gordon Drive in Kelowna, is able to host a high volume of evacuees, short-term. As a not-for-profit organization, we operate our Emergency Response Program on the efforts of our wonderful volunteers. On that note, we are thrilled to introduce our new Emergency Response Coordinator, Kate Azima. Kate brings a wealth of experience to our club, with a background in emergency and disaster response. She has worked for Save the Children and the United Nations for the last 18 years, supporting disaster management overseas. Kate rode in the US as a junior, and was able to come back to horses when she moved to Canada 7 years ago. We are so grateful for Kate's generous offer of her time and expertise in the event of a fire or other scenario that necessitates horse evacuees. Welcome Kate!
